During her Mariah Carey: The Celebration of Mimi Live in Las Vegas residency event at Dolby Live at Park MGM on Sunday, April 21, the R&B artist was unexpectedly joined on stage by the two supermodels – who functioned as a “super glam squad.”
The incident occurred while Carey sang “Say Somethin'” in the second half of her performance when Klum and Banks left to serve as makeup artists, giving the Grammy winner a brush-stroke touch-up on her face.
The audience cheered when Carey then returned the favor, grabbing the brush and acting as though she was brushing their faces. She posted on Instagram following the performance, “Thank you so much gorgeous @heidiklum and @tyrabanks for volunteering to be my super glam squad for the night.” “Thanks for being such fantastic sports!”
Fashionistas also paid tribute to the occasion with Instagram photos later. “A little Stage Glam with the one and only @mariahcarey and @tyrabanks,” wrote Klum, adding: “🥳🥆 LAS VEGAS ❤️”
Banks tweeted, “For so many years, I’ve got glamorous done with @heidiklum. Turning the tables and glam up @mariahcarey on stage at her #vegas performance was rather enjoyable! Her voice resembled silk! ALL night, I developed goosebumbs. MiMi loves you!
With an extra focus on her 10th album, 2005’s The Emancipation of Mimi, as opening night coincided with its 19th anniversary, the Celebration of MiMi started on April 12 comprises a setlist of unforgettable songs released throughout Carey’s career.
Originally scheduled as an eight-show engagement, the residency was extended earlier this month with eight additional dates: August 2, 3, 7, 9 and 10; July 26, 27 and 31. Tickets for the just revealed events are currently on sale.
Carey revealed to Billboard in 2020 the relevance of The Emancipation of Mimi, which inspired the huge singles “We Belong Together” and “Shake It Off.” The album has sold six million copies in the United States alone alone—10 million worldwide—and the singer has received an incredible 10 Grammy nominations since it was first released.”In terms of having enormous singles,

“I view it as a very significant period for me as an artist, a very important time in my career,” she remarked. “When it was as successful as it was, one felt triumphant. From that record, I know many others were first exposed to me as well. I hence would just wish for folks to remove the songs from that CD. I want it to bring people happiness. That’s the objective.
